My goddess, Persephone,
Queen of the Underworld,
Beauty beneath darkness,
She lives below to guide others to after.
My goddess, Persephone,
Wife of Hades,
Abduction turned to matrimony,
She knows not love, but knows a cage.
My goddess, Persephone,
Daughter of Zeus,
Birthed by Demeter,
She knows not power, yet her blood comprehends it.
My goddess, Persephone,
Why must you be defined by men?
Your husband and your father establish who you are.
She knows not identity, but is more than some Gods.
My goddess, Persephone,
Bless thee afterlife,
Nourish thee agriculture,
But don’t forget, only the Queen of the Underworld can.
My goddess, Persephone,
You are strong,
You are fearless,
You sacrifice for your people.
You are a woman,
You are brave,
You are more than your roots.
Therefore, you are MY goddess,
Persephone.
